Copyediting includes all the checks of proofreading with additional suggestions for improvement of syntax, phrasing and sentence construction and order, word usage, continuity errors, completeness of front and endmatter.

A more in-depth Copyedit may be required, checking for things such as redundant words, anachronisms and tautologies, excessive passive voice, jargon, colloquialisms, clichés clarity, style, foreign words and phrases, specialist words and symbols, gaps in story etcetera.
